We recently flew business class with British Airways from Singapore to Sydney. Departing in the evening we checked out The Jewel, Singapore Airport's newest attraction, and then enjoyed some time in the British Airways business class lounge before boarding our flight.
The British Airways business class cabin has a 2-4-2 configuration, with a unique forwards and backwards layout. The unique layout means that those next to the window have an almost fully enclosed suite, great for privacy.
The middle 2 seats in the centre of the plane are also almost fully enclosed making a great private space for couples traveling together (as long as you don't mind facing backwards)
When passengers sitting in the outside seats have their footrests down there is a small barrier of the inside passengers to step over. The same goes for passengers next to the window.
Within your seat space is your entertainment screen which flips out from the dividing wall. A large dining table also flips down from the dividing wall. Below that is a storage pocket for papers and small items, below that is a drawer for your personal items. The drawer is a good size and in a handy space when seated, however its a little difficult to access when your seat is transformed to a bed so make sure you have your nighttime essentials with you before converting your bed. (I left my bottle of water in there, but the flight attendant was more than happy to get me another one).
The controls to adjust your seating position and convert your seat to a bed also conveniently located in the dividing wall, just below the retractable divider.
Next to the upper part of your seat is the entertainment controller as well as the headphone jack and a USB Connection point. At the base of the dividing wall, next to the storage drawer is a power point and another usb connection.
All aspects of your seat and controls are explained in a handy pamphlet in your seat back pocket.
British Airways launched their collaboration with luxury British linen brand The White Company last year including new business class bedding as well as luxury business class amenity kit.
Upon arriving at your seat you'll find the luxury White Company bedding pack which includes a padded mattress topper, a satin trimmed blanket, and a luxury duvet. On your seat is a large pillow with a quality white cotton pillowcase.
Before takeoff each business class passenger is presented with noise cancelling headphones and a The White Company luxury amenity kit.
The amenity kit comes in a stylish leather look pouch and is packed with The White Company spa products, socks, eyemask and teeth cleaning kit.
The British Airways business class seats convert to a fully flat bed, combined with the quality The White Company bedding, the bed is extremely comfortable and provides a good night's sleep in the air.
British Airways has also recently upgraded their business class inflight dining service and now provide a multi course restaurant style dining experience.
A pre-departure welcome drink (champagne or water) sets the mood for the flight as you settle into your seat.
Following takeoff we were offered another drink from the full range of wine, spirits, and soft drinks which was served along with some snacks .
The evening meal consisted of a 3 course meal. Starting with entree, we chose the antipasto plate that was full of flavour and very fresh.
For main course we chose the baked chicken served with a vegetable medley, rice and a tasty romesco sauce.
For dessert we selected the lavender and lemon cake which was both a light and delicious way to end the meal. Throughout the meal service the staff were on hand, topping up drinks, offering additional food, an providing great service should you require anything else.
