UPDATED 9TH APRIL 2024 - Cathay Pacific releases its next generation Premium Economy product at a media preview in Hong Kong'a Freespace centre.
The new Cathay Pacific Premium Economy product first noticeable difference is the colour scheme change. Moving away from the distinctive emerald green that was fitted in the older Premium Economy seats, Cathay Pacific has taken a new look with a fresh gold and light grey pallette.
Despite there being no changes to dimensions, improvements mainly focus on increased privacy and upgraded tech. With winged head rests, passengers are enabled better privacy as well as personal lights attached in the wings so it is less disruptive to neighbouring passengers.
The controls for reclining and adjusting the leg rest are situated on the opposite side of the chair, similar to its previous design, accompanied by a remote. For added convenience, individual cocktail tables extend from the central divider, providing extra space for cups or glasses. Additionally, a tray can be pulled out from the arm rest.
Noteworthy enhancements include a significant increase in the size of the in flight entertainment screen, now boasting 15.6 inches - similar to a Business Class standard. Previously at 11 inches in size, these new screens feature high definition 4K monitors and Bluetooth pairing capability.
To improve passenger's inflight experience, a new graphical user interface is being rolled out slowly starting on the A350 aircraft as well newer fleet additions. This new GUI system will include an updated navigation system improving user experience for travellers on board, as well as an updated 3D map and higher quality cameras for the external nose and tail views from the plane.
Entertainment options provided on board are also being upgraded in the new Cathay Pacific Premium Economy cabin, with new partnerships created with Disney+ as well as HBO Max and Paramount Pictures to offer more content in flight.
Updated menus for Cathay Pacific Premium Economy are also on the cards for later in the year which will ultimately add to the upgraded Premium Economy experience for passengers travelling with Cathay Pacific.
