United Airlines Premium Plus Review
Whilst in Sydney, our team members had the chance to jump onboard the United Airlines 787-9 Dreamliner on their Premium Plus product to do a quick first impressions.

Our Marketing Manager, Blake, and Marketing Coordinator, Anjelica, had the opportunity to check out the United Airlines 787-9 Dreamliner and the Premium Plus product. This is what United Airlines calls their Premium Economy. Fly to Los Angeles, New York City or San Francisco from multiple cities in Australia to experience this cabin. The ‘United Premium Plus Experience’ is a great option for those wanting a little extra comfort on their way to North America. View our United Airlines Premium Economy deal for more.

United Airlines Premium Economy Cabin and Seat

On the 787-9 aircraft, we were pleased to see a 2-3-2 layout and a dedicated cabin of only 21 seats. We really liked how it’s actually a semi-private area that is disconnected from the main Economy cabin. This makes for a bit more personalised service and a more intimate feel. It adds to the pre-flight experience where passengers get priority check-in, boarding, baggage and exclusive security lanes. Small things like this are really appreciated when booking a Premium Economy ticket, in our opinion.

The seat itself is quite wide and reclines nicely. With a footrest and adjustable headrest, we like how we could really customise it to our liking. You also get an extra 7 inches of seat pitch compared to standard Economy seats. For extra space, opt for the first row of seats in Premium Plus.

United Airlines Premium Economy Features

Everything about the United Airlines Premium Economy cabin is created with space and practicality in mind. From the fold-out tray table, easy-to-use seat controls, to numerous amenities, it really feels like a more elevated journey. The windows can even be tinted at the press of a button, letting you control the lighting without having to pick between full sun or total darkness.

We liked the bonus items like the Saks Fifth Avenue pillow and blanket (which feel quite premium compared to what you receive on other airlines), plus the Therabody Amenity Kit. Inside, enjoy Therabody skincare products like hand cream, a facial wipe, lip balm, plus essentials like ear plugs, an eye mask, tissues and a pen.

In terms of entertainment, one of our favourite features is using the United Airlines app. 24 hours before your flight, you can check what entertainment will be available onboard. The 13” in-flight entertainment screen is also quite modern and easy to use.

A cool feature we found was that on the touchscreen, there were options like ‘Please don’t wake me’ or ‘Please wake me for meals.’ This is just another small feature that makes United Airlines stand out in terms of excellent service. There is a USB port and power plug located on the armrest, as well as new noise-cancelling headphones by Meridian provided to Business Class and Premium Plus customers for the flight.
