The Limitations
Unfortunately the Qantas Club Flexible membership only gives you access to ‘Qantas-Branded lounges” which means you will not have access to international partner lounges, such as Oneworld lounges in airports where there is no dedicated Qantas Lounge. Unlike the other Qantas memberships, there is no guesting privileges on the Flexible Membership without an Annual Guest card (for an additional $449)
Another downside of the Flexible membership is the joining fee of $129 which you will need to pay no matter if you are getting the flexible or annual membership. Qantas calls this a ‘once-off’ fee but unlike the annual membership, if you purchase the Flexible membership and cancel, then reactivate after 90-days you will need to pay the $129 joining fee again.
Our Final Thoughts
If you are looking at the Annual vs Flexible membership you are better off purchasing the Annual Qantas Club membership, $828 for the first year ($699 plus $129 joining fee) whereas the Flexible membership would cost $1,416 for a year ($99 for 13 28-day access passes. Plus $129 joining fee). Overall if you are traveling for less than a year, mainly with Qantas and would like to have a place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the airport, purchasing the Qantas Club Flexible membership would be worth it to know you have somewhere to go for a comfortable place to sit, delicious food and fully stocked bars.
